Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz uses various social media channels for network and exchange both within and beyond the university. Our conversation is informative, respectful, and friendly at all times. Our standards of communication adhere to the following basic principles:
- Posts, comments, and links that are discriminatory, unconstitutional, demagogic, unlawful, pornographic, extremist, racist, vulgar, defamatory, or otherwise inappropriate will be removed without comment or further notice. This also applies to content that violates JGU's reputation or runs counter to its Mission Statement.
- Comments and mentions need to be relevant to the topic of the social media post. JGU reserves the right to delete comments that do not relate to the content of the original social media post.
- Advertising, spam, and commercial content from third parties are not accepted and will be deleted.
- JGU ensures compliance with copyright, usage, and personal rights as well as other legal regulations when publishing images, texts, video, or audio content. We expect our users and visitors to act accordingly.
- JGU complies with data protection regulations: Personal or confidential information will never be published by JGU on its social media channels. If such content is posted by third parties on JGU channels, the university will remove it without comment or further notice.
- JGU adheres to the terms and conditions, policies and guidelines of the social media networks and expects users and visitors to act accordingly.
- JGU maintains a respectful, matter-of-fact, and polite tone of voice in all conversation and discussion, in the exchange of opinions or in constructive criticism.
- JGU is a cosmopolitan university. Thus, our social media channels are not the venue for political or religious discourse.
- JGU staff uses social media to provide information to the best of their knowledge. This, however, is not legally binding.
