JGU ranked among the top three German universities across all faculties and in individual subjects / Third place nationally in the Physics subject group

In the 2018 CWTS Leiden Ranking, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) received excellent rankings among the top three universities in Germany across all faculties and in individual subjects.
In the Citations category, JGU achieved a second place out of 50 German universities across all faculties, thereby improving its standing by eight places compared to last year. In the Publication Collaborations category, JGU placed among the top ten German universities. For its collaboration with distant universities, it was awarded a very respectable third place.
In the Physics subject group, JGU ranked 3rd nationally in both assessed categories, and in Social Sciences and Humanities it even achieved a very good second place out of 50 German universities in the Citations category. JGU achieved a ranking among the top ten German universities in the categories of Citations and Publication Collaborations in the Biomedical and Health Sciences subject group as well as in the Collaborations category in the Life and Earth Sciences subject group.
The CWTS Leiden Ranking has been published annually since 2007 by the Center for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS) of Leiden University in the Netherlands. The internationally renowned research-oriented university ranking is based on analyses of the publications of the 938 leading research universities worldwide, using as its source the Web of Science publication database.
